•Attend your local community college for your prerequisite courses to save money and reduce college debt.
•Experience living on a university campus out of state to really teach you independence and sharpen your social skills.
•Speak and connect with as many people you can from other freshman’s, upperclassman, administrators and teachers. Networking is everything as a college student/adult. You never know who knows who or knows what.
•Join an organization to meet new people and possible friends. Also to graduate and have a list of organizations or contribution you made for your school is honorable.
•Complete your school work early so you can attend parties. School work comes first then RIGHT after is fun. ☺️
•Seek help on your assignments if needed. After all we pay schools THOUSANDS of dollars for these degrees, that’s what they are there for. Create or join study groups, tutoring sessions, and help from professors. If you receive a low grade, ask the professor to better explain and ask for the opportunity to try to submit the assignment again. Often times they say yes because they see how much you value your grades.
•Search textbooks companies online for purchasing textbooks even if they say it’s only available at the book store. Ex. Amazon, Chegg and Book Rentals are some websites to try. Enter the ISBN in google and you can shop around for the lower prices.
•If you need to work, apply for work study that way you can stay on campus and they’ll be more flexible with your class schedule.
•Stay on campus during the breaks when they allow it, this is another opportunity to meet new people.
•Lastly, NEVER give up! It’ll be what you make it. Create your own experience and opinions for yourself, never based off others.
