Balance - a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions.

I started working on mastering the art of balance my junior year of high school. This is the year I begin working my first job at Wendys. I had to balance school, cheerleading and working. Of course these balances are a lot easier when you have a mother who constantly stressed to you the importance of an education. What's funny is that she always said I needed to get out and have fun and I always said I am having fun. Cheerleading was my fun. Also, being a cheerleader you have higher expectations to measure up to so you have to be mindful of the kind and amount of fun you indulge in. Towards high school graduation, I attended more house parties mainly because my boyfriend at the time threw many of them. I honestly didn't find much enjoyment in going out to clubs and parties because there was always a fight or cops involved at the end. So during this stage in my life I did well with balancing work, school and cheerleading because I worked a lot, obtained good grades and still was heavenly involved in cheerleading.

During my early years of college, when working towards my Associates degree, I also had to work on mastering balance between school and fun. I didn't work much throughout these years while in school because I went out of the city/state for school and stayed on campus. However, when I was attending our local community college I did work. Now balancing school and fun in high school and college are two completely different levels of balance. College you have more freedom, less obligations to actually do well in school. In society college is considered optional, but in my household college was mandatory. But luckily for my mother, she didn't have to push for me to go to college because I already enjoyed school and was excited to attend college. My first college I attend was our local community college Columbus State. I don't think I did any partying then because I was so focus on working to save to help around the house and save for my next semester to attend Clark Atlanta University. Now when I went to CAU, I did a lot of partying and school combined. Surprisingly, I made the best grades there and had the most fun. Then, I transferred back to CSCC for a semester then to Bowling Green State University. Now at BGSU, I simply just did school work. I tried so hard to find work but I was unsuccessful in doing so. I didn't do much partying partially because it was so cold, it wasn't nearly as fun as CAU and it was more house parties than anything.

The year of January 2018 until January 2019, I was placed on academic suspension due to my low GPA. So in May 2018, I decided to move to Houston. (To hear more about this decision see my blog 'Leap of Faith') Here is when the partying began. Just about every weekend since then until the COVID19 Shutdown. I started school again January 2019, so this is when it was back to balancing school, work and fun. Fun and parties in Houston is tremendously different than the fun and parties in Columbus. I'm still in school, so I must say I balance the three pretty well. I work hard with work and school and party harder. :)

So people may say she's out every weekend and guess what .. IS! But it's simply because, basically, I can! I do what I want because I'm grown. haha. No but really I am :) . Okay in all seriousness, I'm out a lot because I never experienced the party life! Many people experienced this phase of their life at a younger age, which is totally fine. But as long as my responsibilities are taken care of, I will continue to enjoy my life. After all, you only get one.
